Soča Valley, Slovenia

Located within the Julian Alps, the breathtakingly beautiful Soča Valley is on outdoors lover’s dream, with some of Europe’s most gorgeous waters. The large region is split into three municipalities: Bovec, Kobarid and Tolmin and also features part of Triglav National Park. The remarkable Soča river flows through the valley and is known as “The Emerald Beauty” thanks to its alluring emerald-green waters. It is one of the few rivers in the world that retains such a color for its entire length. Unsurprisingly, it is a water sports haven with options galore including kayaking, rafting, canoeing and more. On top of this there are world class mountain biking trails and great hiking routes. One hiking highlight would be the 100 km Walk of Peace which features six outdoor museums on route, detailing the areas rich and sometimes grizzly history. One of Europe’s true hidden gems.
