Nima Allergen SensorGourmet / Tech
Eating out when you have an allergy can be a minefield. Even if food is stated to be ‘Gluten free,’ a mistake can have deadly consequences. The Nima Allergen Sensor aims to help with this. Simply place a small piece of your food in the pocket-sized sensor and let it work its magic. Within two minutes you will know if the food is completely gluten free or not, with a sad face emoji signaling to give it a miss. The Nima is incredibly accurate and can detect gluten traces down to 20 parts per million and can also catch food that has been cross contaminated by being cooked in the same water/oil as food containing gluten. The company are already working on peanut and diary sensors, which will also be available shortly.
