The Isles of Scotland have long been famed for their quality whiskies. Not content with this, the tartan army are now branching out into gin with Harris Distillery’s Isle of Harris Gin. This fine sprit has been crafted with maritime pleasures in mind. The key ingredient for the flavour is sugar kelp. This is hand harvested from the underwater gardens of the Outer Hebrides by local divers. It is then accented with angleica root, liquorice, orris root, coriander, cassia bark, bitter orange peel, cuebes and of course, juniper. The result is fine concoction, with a happy balance between the sweet citrus and bitter juniper flavors. The long finish leaves black pepper and sweet vanilla on the palate and will have you peacefully drifting out to sea.
