2016 Whiskey of the YearGourmet
Whisky Advocate have named Nikka Whisky’s Yoichi Single Malt their 23rd Japanese Whisky of the Year, so it’s safe to say it’s a bottle of the good stuff. It does sound like a truly unique spirit, with a host of unusual flavours joining the smoke and peat you except to find in whisky. There are hints of kiwi, lime, menthol and briny seashells. Despite U.S. liquor stores stocking more varieties of Japanese whiskies than ever before, this is the only Yoichi available on the American market, setting it apart even further. A bottle will set you back $80, which offers great value for any whisky connoisseurs.
